How a VPN can benefit you
Are you new to the world of VPNs? Maybe don’t really understand what they are, what it means or how it can help you?
Then this is the article for you. I’ll try to give you some basic idea of what a VPN is and how you can use it in your normal everyday internet life.
I’m not going to bore you with all the technical details of how a VPN works, though I could if you really wanted me to 🙂 I’ll let Wikipedia do the dirty work for me. Click here to read all the exciting stuff about a VPN.
You are here because you’ve heard of a VPN but don’t really quite understand how you can use one or why it is of benefit to you.
Some Benefits of a VPN:
- Encrypts your connection on the internet so you are not traceable by your internet provider or others like the dreaded NSA. Might not be important to a lot of us but this is important to some.
- Watch Netflix, Hulu, etc. from out of country. This is probably one of the biggest reasons VPNs have become so immensely popular in recent years. With a good VPN service like Torguard, you can choose from a list of countries that you want to connect with. If you want to watch US Netflix but don’t live in the US or are travelling, just open your trusty VPN service and choose one of many US locations to connect to. Then open Netflix and voila! You are seen to be coming from the US regardless of where you live or are staying.
- Download movies or songs: This is the other big reason that VPN’s have become so popular. Most of us know that downloading movies or music is illegal. Yet many of us continue to do it. Because it’s there. I’m not going to talk about morals or anything like that – that isn’t my business and it’s not like I haven’t done it before. But if you are downloading, realize that every time you do so, you are running a risk of being caught, possibly taken to court and you can be fined heavily. A good, trusted VPN service takes care of that for you because the DMCA or RIAA or whoever is hunting for the download of the item you just grabbed simply won’t be able to trace you. The only way one of these organizations could find you would be to subpoena records from your VPN provider. But most good VPN providers don’t keep records. Period. So it is virtually impossible for you to be traced. Talk about peace of mind if you care to download the occasional movie or song!!!!
I mention a number of times in the article to choose a good VPN service and you probably are wondering how you are to know which one is good and which ones aren’t. I’m not here to sell you on any one service but I have personally been using Torguard for about 3 years now and did all my research on them before signing up. They are stable and respond super quick the couple of times I’ve needed help. And the other reason I went with them is I found a 50% off promo code and I like a bargain. And I’ve been happy ever since. So check them out if you want, like I say I’m not trying to sell you on it, it doesn’t make me any money. But to save some money click here for Torguard promo code . That way if you do decide to use them, you can save some money.
